There was a time when each and every parent took a big gamble by taking the child along on an aeroplane trip. It is impossible to predict how your child will react to the site of a long, narrow enclosed cylindrical tube with thick windows and air conditioned environment. Some kids may end up feeling claustrophobic while other kids may become over excited.
If you want to avoid irritating all other passengers, it is important to prepare your child for any air trip that you intend to make in the near future. You have one advantage that the earlier generation did not have. You have the advantage of the internet. Log on to the internet and check out resources that will help your child get a bird’s eye view of how the plane flies. You can also make use of animations and visuals of the boarding process and the security checks involved.
It would help a lot if you could convince the air hostess to give a bit of an extra treat to your child. Of course, do not count on it but a trip to the captain’s cabin may calm down to even the most excited child. On your side, make sure you do your best to keep the child comfortable. Make sure that the child has eaten well but do not over stuff the kid. Last thing you want is vomit in the narrow space of your seat. Make sure you have some comfort food in your hand at all times that you can feed the child in the event it becomes cranky.
